"Let the love of learning rule humanity"
(Motto of the Honor Society PHI KAPPA PHI)

I was accepted to the PhD program of the Vanderbilt German studies in Fall of 2007.  Originally from Salzgitter, Germany, I have lived in Clarksville, TN, since June of 2002.  In Clarksville, I studied English at  Austin Peay State University, where I earned a  BA (summa cum laude) and an MA (with honors) in English in 2004 and 2005, resp.  From 2006 to 2007, I worked as an adjunct English instructor, teaching Introduction to Composition /Literature (Eng. 1010/1020) at APSU both on main campus as well as on the Fort Campbell satellite campus.

As a poet myself,  my primary interests concentrate on German women writers of the 20th century such as Else Lasker-Schüler, Rose Ausländer, Mascha Kaleko or Hilde Domin.  I am open to finding new pleasures in the realm of German literature that I might focus on for my specialization, however.
