Family,
Community, and Social Justice in Nicaragua
Focusing on one of the poorest countries in the Americas
, this course will delve deeply into fundamental issues of social
justice and global citizenship. Through academic work and
community service—in Nashville
and
Nicaragua
—we will examine the causes of poverty in
Central America
and its consequences. The central focus of the course will be the
role of family and community in the struggle to achieve a better life
in the face of enormous economic and cultural challenges.
Managua Program Description
Working with the MANNA Project in Managua provides unparalleled
access to three different communities and the public services offered
within them.
