The International Studies in London (ISIL) program is offered each summer by Vanderbilt University. The theme of the 2007 ISIL program was "The European Union in the International Order ".

All ISIL students take two courses for a total of 6 semester hours of credit.  Successful completion of the six-hour curriculum of the International Studies in London program will fulfill the International Component Option 2 of the College of Arts and Science undergraduate degree program.  All courses and instructors must be approved by the College of Arts and Science. All courses relate to the overall theme, "The European Union in the International Order." Final examinations draw upon class work, lectures, and field trips.

Students are expected to attend all classes, guest lectures, field trips, and all other whole-group, theme-related activities. In their spare time, students are encouraged to explore England's capital city which was recently commended as the city with the world's best public transport. Of interest are well-known landmarks and attractions such as the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, the British Museum, and the National Gallery, not to mention numerous cinemas, bars, clubs, shops, galleries, theatres, and restaurants with a great variety of cuisines. London truly has something for everyone.

Students are provided with housing at the University of London in the center of London, a short walk from the classrooms in Birkbeck College of the University of London and close to the West End shopping and theatre districts. Breakfast is provided in the cafeteria located in the same building.  All linens are provided.

Taking advantage of London as a center of world affairs, the program will concentrate its attention on international economics, politics, and management, with special emphasis on the problems of today's world.  Field trips will be scheduled to Lloyds of London, The Bank of England, Sotheby's and other centers of commerce.  A visit to the Houses of Parliament will also be arranged.  Each week guest lecturers will speak on some aspect of international economics or politics as it relates to the theme of the program.  Lecturers will include officers of multinational corporations, government officials, academic authorities, and other experts.
