student life
Students are expected to attend all classes, guest lectures, field trips, and all other whole-group, theme-related activities. In their spare time, students are encouraged to explore England's capital city which was recently commended as the city with the world's best public transport. Of interest are well-known landmarks and attractions such as the Houses of Parliament, the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, the British Museum, and the National Gallery, not to mention numerous cinemas, bars, clubs, shops, galleries, theatres, and restaurants with a great variety of cuisines. London truly has something for everyone.
housing
Students are provided with housing at the University of London in the center of London, a short walk from the classrooms in Birkbeck College of the University of London and close to the West End shopping and theatre districts. Breakfast is provided in the cafeteria located in the same building. All linens are provided.
location

Historically a leader in the artistic development of Great Britain and continental Europe, London continues to function as a cultural matrix for the creation, expression, and exchange of ideas in the arts and humanities. Increasingly multi-cultural in its composition and artistic discourse while retaining distinctive and defining British enlightenment values, London presents an ideal venue for studying the complex new configurations and interactions of the arts with other humanities in a changing world.
