Online Applications

STEP ONE: General application, to be completed, printed, and submitted by ALL applicants:

Vanderbilt General Application to Study Abroad (academic year or summer)

Vanderbilt Maymester Application

STEP TWO: Program-specific applications, to be completed in addition to general application:

  • IFSA-Butler Application (Stirling, Scotland - summer)

  • CIEE Application (locations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Dominican Republic, Russia, Australia, South Africa, Senegal, Spain - academic year and summer)

- Professor Recommendation Form

A non-refundable $50 application fee must accompany each program application and be made payable to Vanderbilt University.  Check or money order only.  No cash or credit cards.

This fee replaces any program provider application fees.

Participants are usually juniors, but students may study abroad anytime after their freshman year. Because a study abroad experience requires a strong academic foundation, applicants must have an overall cumulative grade point average of at least 2.7, and many programs require a 3.0. Students must also be in good academic, financial, and disciplinary standing.

Programs with instruction in a language other than English require at least four semesters of college-level study or the equivalent in the appropriate language (for Vanderbilt in Germany, three semesters of college-level German with strong faculty support may meet the requirement). Only the "Vanderbilt In" programs (Spain, Germany, and France) are available to non-Vanderbilt students, if space is available.

All application materials are available in the Global Education Office located in Suite 115 of the new Student Life Center. Completed applications should be brought to GEO or mailed to:
