Title: Senior Associate Counsel
Ms. Price joined the Office of General Counsel in July of 2001.
Prior to becoming a member of the Vanderbilt staff, she served as
the General Counsel to the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration,
providing advice and counsel to state officials who set public health
policy. The TennCare program, that currently provides health care
insurance to approximately 25% of the state's population was a primary
program under her purview. During her tenure with TennCare, Ms.
Price represented the state with federal officials at CMS (formerly
HCFA), as well as, with community advocacy groups.
Ms Price also supervised attorneys representing the various boards
responsible for licensing health care professionals and facilities.
Additional areas of responsibility included state contracting, departmental
technology systems, state employee insurance and personnel matters.
Ms. Price has also served as General Counsel to the Tennessee Board
of Regents, the nation's 7th largest system of higher education,
which oversees and sets policy for 46 Tennessee public colleges
and universities. In this capacity, her practice focused on personnel,
contract, security, student life, student discipline, desegregation,
and NCAA matters. Other experience involved the development and
implementation of lawyer and paralegal training programs.
Ms. Price graduated from Rutgers- Newark School of Law and received
her B.A. from the New Brunswick Division of Rutgers. She is licensed
to practice law in both Tennessee and New Jersey.
Ms. Price has participated in numerous professional and community
organizations. She currently serves as the Chairman of the Board
for the Nashville Electric Service, Chairman of the Board of Community
Rehabilitation Agencies of TN, is a member of the Judicial Performance
Committee of the Supreme Court, and belongs to the American Health
Lawyers Association and the National Association of College and
University Attorneys.
