Title: Associate Counsel
Ms. Marx joined the Office of General Counsel in October, 1987.
Ms. Marx holds an L.L.B. from the University of Pennsylvania Law
School, and did her undergraduate work at Vassar College. Prior
to coming to Vanderbilt she worked in the Office of the Chief Counsel
of the Food and Drug Administration where she represented the FDA
in civil, criminal, and administrative hearings.
Since coming to the Office of General Counsel, Ms. Marx has worked
on matters relating to technology transfer. She works with the Office
of Technology Transfer on licensing and related issues involving
Vanderbilt intellectual property. In addition she provides advice
to administrators on various employment matters, particularly involving
civil rights issues, and prepares the University's responses to
charges of discrimination submitted to the EEOC. She works with
outside counsel on the defense of employment law suits filed against
Vanderbilt, and in other types of litigation.
She provides advice to University Central and the Medical Center
sponsored research offices regarding intellectual property issues
in sponsored research agreements and material transfer agreements.
She also serves as an ex officio member of the VUMC Conflicts of
Interest Committee.
