Ron Porter

Artist Biography

Ron Porter lives and works in Nashville where he maintains a painting studio and currently teaches drawing and painting at Vanderbilt University. He graduated Cum Laude from Middle Tennessee State University and Summa Cum Laude from Ohio University. He grew up in East Tennessee. He is represented in numerous collections in the United States, as well as Europe. He is represented by Cumberland Gallery in Nashville, Tennessee. They will show his work in September and October of 2010.

Artist Statement

Surrealism throughout. The settings are psychologically open ended.
The meaning can be slippery. The ideas present clarity and ambiguity as one.
Irony often prevails. It is a state of mind.
Then there's the light. It cannot be underestimated.
