Research Topics of Interest

French:

* Redefining the function and definition of literary "supplements" in 18th century travel literature, i.e. the relationship between the "journal de voyage" and fictional narratives based on them 

* Travel literature by, or based on accounts by, Bougainville, Commerson, Cook, Saint-Pierre, Prevost, Raynal

* The female role in seduction as portrayed in 18th century libertine novels by Diderot and Laclos


Second Language Acquistion:

* How the ACTFL Standards may be implemented at the university level, and their effects on student and teacher motivation and success

* How students may use their L1 to solve cognitively difficult grammar tasks in the L2 classroom (with support from Vygotskian sociolinguistic ideas)
