2010 Nashville Flood Information

Medical Center Revised Schedule – May 2, 6 PM

Due to flooding throughout the metropolitan area and at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, several services, including hospitals, clinics and schools have a revised schedule. Please see below for specific information:

  1. All faculty, clinical fellows, residents and staff who can safely commute are expected to report to work at their regularly scheduled time on Monday. Please consult Tennessee Highway Patrol for road condition information online or call them at 1-800-342-3258.
  2. Those who park in the hospital garages should exert caution as some lower areas are flooded. The 25th Avenue Garage and South Garage are flooded in the basement. Central Garage and East Garage are clear from flooding.
  3. Please call the Delta Office at 322-2041 if you encounter standing water or other damage in your work area.

Open Services

  • All services remain up and running at the Medical Center, One Hundred Oaks, VMG Williamson and other locations unless noted.
  • Scheduled procedures in the adult hospital and clinics will proceed (depending on individual physician and patient availability) on Monday, May 3, including the Cardiac Cath Lab and the GI Lab.
  • Elective surgical operations for Vanderbilt University Hospital will proceed on Monday.
  • The Vanderbilt Bone and Joint Surgery Center in Franklin will be open on Monday.
  • The Nashville Surgery Center will be open on Monday.

Closed Services

  • Elective surgical operations at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt have been cancelled for Monday.
  • Clinics located in the basement of The Vanderbilt Clinic have been cancelled at least until Wednesday, May 5. Those include but are not limited to:
    • Radiation Oncology
    • Neurology and Neurodiagnostic (third floor is open)
    • Pulmonology
  • The Cool Springs Surgery Center will be closed on Monday.

Patient Cancellations:

  • Patients who need to cancel an appointment should contact their physician’s office as soon as possible.
  • Staff who receive calls, voicemails and emails from patients about appointment or procedure cancellations should notify the appropriate scheduling services ASAP so schedules can be adjusted this week.

Academic Cancellations:

  • Classes for first- and second-year medical students have been cancelled for Monday.
  • Third and four year students who can safely commute should report for clinical responsibilities.
  • Vanderbilt University School of Nursing classes have been cancelled and offices will be closed on Monday.
  • All IGP classes have been cancelled for Monday.
  • Final undergraduate exams at Vanderbilt University have also been cancelled for Monday.
