Business Objects (BO) is a query, reporting and analysis tool that allows users to create custom reports and analyze information found in a variety of corporate databases, called universes. With over 80 different Business Objects universes throughout Vanderbilt, each with its own universe manager, it is important to know which one you need to access. For a listing of the most widely-used BO universes, please see the Vanderbilt Business Objects website. For the purposes of this webpage, all information below refers to the General Ledger Universe.

Business Objects XI General Ledger Universe

The Office of Financial Affairs manages the General Ledger Universe in Business Objects. The data in this universe allow you to create custom reports based on GL information. The GL Universe uses the Desktop Intelligence, Deski, platform of Business Objects for reporting purposes. This platform requires a simple installation on your computer.
To use Business Objects for General Ledger reporting you must first request and obtain access to the General Ledger Universe. Complete the request form at the following link for access to this universe:

Getting Set Up with Business Objects for the GL Universe:
- Complete and submit a BO Access form for the General Ledger Universe.
- Install Business Objects XI Desktop Intelligence.
- Sign up for training.
