LOAN INFORMATION FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Please carefully read all instructions listed below to determine the steps you are responsible for taking for each loan type you have been offered (as listed on your award notification).

Click directly on the corresponding loan type below (such as Federal Stafford Loan) for information regarding terms and conditions of any loan type offered. You will then be directed to another web page that includes important consumer information for that loan program.

Federal Stafford Loan (Subsidized and/or Unsubsidized)

If you are a new Federal Stafford Loan borrower then you will need to select a lender and complete the Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN). You must also complete the required Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling. When you click on the link below to continue the application process, you will be directed to complete the entrance counseling.

If you are a returning student with a Stafford Loan MPN already on file with your lender, then we will automatically request from your lender the amount on your award notification unless you specify a lower amount. You do not need to reapply with your lender. You may decline or reduce your Federal Stafford Loan by sending an e-mail to loans@vanderbilt.edu.
