Vanderbilt Student Film Festival
Tuesday, April 22, 2008 • 12-11 p.m. • Buttrick 103

The second annual Vanderbilt Student Film Festival promises to be an exciting event showcasing the talent and strong works coming out of the university’s creative and journalistic community. We invite all interested to attend this milestone event.

Submissions this year not only cover stories on-campus but also reach out to the larger Nashville community. Fiction topics range from seniors contemplating life after college to a mockumentary on surviving a difficult science class. A series of documentaries emerging from the course “Filming Nashville” will feature issues like the homeless epidemic in Nashville and food insecurity, as well as an intimate profile on spoken word artists who use their work as a mechanism for hope and healing.

Also in attendance will be Oscar-nominated documentary filmmakers Peter Gilbert and Steve James (Hoop Dreams, 1986), who will screen their new feature length film, At the Death House Door. Following a discussion panel on their film, they will announce the student film festival winners.
