2012 Fall Semester
- August 1: Deadline to waive student health insurance coverage
- August 15: Deadline for students to pay fall charges without a late payment fee
- August 18: First-Year student move-in day
- August 19: Transfer Student move-in day; Upperclass residence halls open at 9 a.m.
- August 22: First day of class
- September 4: Last day to drop a class with no entry on record
- October 4-5: Fall Break

- January 4: Undergraduate residence halls re-open at noon
- January 4-6 and 11-13: Panhellenic and Interfraternity councils formal recruitment
- January 7: Spring semester classes begin
- January 21: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day-Classes Cancelled; Last day to drop a class with no entry on record
- February 4-10: Registration for 2013/2014 housing assignments process
- March 2: Residence halls close at 9 a.m. for spring break
- March 2-10: Spring Break
- March 10: Residence halls re-open at 9 a.m.
- March 11-April 5: 2013/2014 Housing assignment process
- March 17: Founder’s Day
- April 8: Fall 2013 Course Registration period begins
- April 19-20: Rites of Spring Music Festival
- April 22: Last day of classes for spring semester
- April 23-May 2: Reading days and examinations
- May 4: First-Year Residence halls close at 9 a.m.
- May 8-10: Commencement 2013
- May 11: Residence halls close for all students at 1 p.m.
The VU calendar committee and the Board of Trustees must approve the University calendar before it is published around June 1 of each year. Calendar highlights are published in the OverVU newsletter during the year. Family Weekend: October 12-14, 2012
Families spend years planning, saving, and guiding students to prepare them for entry into college. Vanderbilt provides programs, services, volunteer opportunities and publications designed to help acclimate Vanderbilt parents and families to campus life. In addition, we host a special Family Weekend.
