Write First-Year Parent Welcome Letters
Drop a note of welcome to new (first-year and transfer) parents in your region in July
During the school year, drop a note or an email to parents to see how they are doing
Host a Regional Vanderbilt Parent Reception
Help host and/or organize parent events in your region during the school year (dinner at a local restaurant, or a get together to watch a Vanderbilt ball game)
Host a Regional Care Package Party
Help host and/or organize an event for parents to assemble care packages to send their students around exam time
Host a Summer Send Off Party in collaboration with Vanderbilt Alumni Relations
Help host and/or organize Summer Send Off Parties for new students and their parents or guardians. Invitations also include local alumni, current students and parents.
NOTE: Should a host be needed in your area, you will be contacted by a representative in the Alumni Relations Office for more information.
Volunteer at On-Campus Events
Welcome new Vanderbilt parents, answer questions, pass out brochures, and assist families of first year students during Move-In Day
Work the registration table during Family Weekend
Assist Admissions at Recruitment Events
Help Vanderbilt admissions counselors in your area at college fairs and programs, pass out brochures and materials, and assist prospective students and their families with questions.
Host a Vanderbilt International Student over the Holidays
Host Vanderbilt international students in your home during Thanksgiving and/or Christmas break. Many of our international students remain on campus during the holidays and they would welcome the opportunity to experience American holiday traditions in the home of one of our current Vanderbilt families.
Participate in Career Networking Events for Vanderbilt Students
If you are interested in advising students, volunteer to participate in the Soiree at Sarratt networking event during Family Weekend in September. There are also various opportunities for your company to participate in recruiting events on campus.
Serve as a Study Abroad Parent Mentor
If your student has studied abroad on a Vanderbilt program and you are interested in sharing your knowledge and experience with other parents, you can become a Parent Ambassadors for the Global Education Office (GEO). Click here to learn more!
