A distinguished faculty, active in research and dedicated to teaching, offers instruction in British and American Literature, Language, and Literary Theory in small seminars. The student-faculty ratio is currently about 1:1. Each student is encouraged to work closely with a committee of faculty experts in the areas of his or her particular interests in planning course-work and independent study, foreign language study, and to develop reading lists for comprehensive exams.
