Countdown to Commencement

The Vanderbilt campus is busy with last-minute preparations for Commencement, scheduled for May 8–10. Highlights will include the Senior Day speech by Pulitzer and Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison on May 9 and Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos’ Commencement address to the graduates on May 10—both of which will be streamed live from the Vanderbilt homepage.

Alumnus Kevin White and family injured in Boston Marathon bombings

The Huffington Post: Owen School alumnus Kevin White, MBA’10, suffered a shrapnel wound and other injuries during the Boston Marathon bombings April 15. Also among the injured were his mother, Mary Jo, and father, Bill White, whose leg was amputated. Read more to learn how you can help the White family in their recovery.

M. Eric Johnson named dean of Owen School

M. Eric Johnson, a former associate professor at Vanderbilt and current associate dean at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, has been named the new dean of Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management, effective July 1.

Professor John Lachs receives Alumni Education Award

The Vanderbilt Alumni Association honored John Lachs, the Centennial Professor of Philosophy, with the Alumni Education Award April 3. The award, which was presented to Lachs during a surprise visit to his classroom, recognizes his contributions as a popular speaker for Reunion and alumni chapter educational programs.
