International Teaching Assistants (ITA)
English for Academics and Professionals
ITAs at Vanderbilt University may be evaluated for English-language proficiency at the request of their departments or by self-selection. ITAs may be assessed throughout their time at VU depending on how their role as ITAs and department needs may change. The evaluation process is designed to determine whether an ITA has the high level of communication skills needed to carry out TA responsibilities.
The assessment for Fall 2014 will be on August 19th. You must sign up using the link below. (Returning ITAs from Spring 2014 need not be re-assessed. Just sign up for your next ELC-recommended course in Step 3 below.)
Step 1: Complete ITA assessment sign-up form
- Complete form HERE (Fall 2014 only)
- Form may be completed by ITA or ITA’s department
Step 2: Attend ITA assessment at the ELC (if required)
- An ELC Language Specialist will contact you after you complete the form to set up an assessment time
Step 3: Based on assessment results (or last semester’s grade and recommendation), the ELC may recommend one of the following courses:
