- VU-affiliated (spouses and dependent children, 17 years of age and older)
Program Information
The PreEAP program offers a full range of courses designed to meet the diverse needs of English learners with varying strengths and objectives. The levels of instruction are from basic to advanced. New students are given placement tests to determine the appropriate levels for them.
The core program, which all full-time students follow, focuses on speaking and listening, reading, and writing. The goal is to help students to develop a solid foundation in English. More advanced students may also select from a number of elective courses, including pronunciation and media. All courses focus on language and skills needed for academic and professional purposes. Throughout the program, students learn the cultural information needed for successful use of English.
Upon completing their studies at the ELC, students may obtain a certification letter and a transcript showing all their course work and their grades.
Admission to degree programs for PreEAP students
Students wishing to study in a Vanderbilt University degree program need to apply separately to the appropriate university admissions office. Students who wish to apply to Vanderbilt or another university can obtain advice on schools and applications from the ELC staff.
