New Faculty

Professor Christopher (Kitt) Carpenter The Department of Economics is pleased to announce that Christopher (Kitt) Carpenter will join the faculty at the start of the 2013-14 academic year. Professor Carpenter, most recently a faculty member at the Merage School of the University of California-Irvine, was previously a Robert Wood Johnson Postdoctoral Scholar in Health Policy at the University of Michigan. He earned his doctorate at the University of California-Berkeley. Professor Carpenter’s research is primarily in the area of health economics. He investigates the effects of several types of public policies on workplace outcomes and health behaviors, as well as the role of sexual orientation in determining labor market outcomes. He will teach courses in health economics and will help support Vanderbilt’s joint initiative with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Meharry Medical College. |

Professor Eun Jeong Heo & Professor Alejandro Molnar We are also excited to welcome new Assistant Professors Eun Jeong Heo and Alejandro Molnar. Professor Heo earned her Ph.D. at the University of Rochester. Her research and teaching interests are in the areas of microeconomics, game theory, and mechanism design. Professor Molnar will complete his Ph.D. at Stanford University this summer. His research and teaching interests are in the areas of industrial organization and international trade. |
