Qingyun Kong, Not just for academic improvement PDF Print E-mail

Qingyun Kong came to Vanderbilt in January, 2008. She got a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Management from Shanxi University of Finance and Economics in China, and is now enjoying studying at Vanderbilt University's GPED.  This experience , she says, will be unforgettable.

Qingyun's main focus is finance and she is pursuing a career in investment banking. Prior to her enrollment at Vanderbilt, she worked for the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and spent this last summer working as an intern in the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. While there, she was responsible for providing a comparative statistical analysis of economic indicators in different countries and coming up with ways by which they could improve. She is currently an intern in the Global Private Wealth Division at Merrill Lynch. Qingyun says that "if you want to devote yourself to global economic development, it's important to know the world first." This is why the Graduate Program in Economic Development appeals to her as it has given her an opportunity to meet people from all over the world and learn about different cultures and languages.
