Suhas Ketkar is a recognized expert on emerging markets of Asia, Europe and Latin America.  He is currently a Professor of Economics and Director of the Graduate Program in Economic Development (effective August 2008) at Vanderbilt University.  Previously he worked as a financial economist and strategist for twenty five years with several Wall Street firms including RBS Greenwich Capital, Credit Suisse First Boston and Marine Midland Bank.  He was also Director of Sovereign Research at Fidelity Investments.  He has acted as a consultant to the World Bank on several occasions.  Over the years, he has taught emerging markets finance, international economics and economic development at several U.S. universities including NYU, University of Michigan and Vanderbilt University.  While he has published widely on many diverse topics in economics, his current research is focused on innovative ways of raising development finance.  Recently, he co-edited a book on Innovative Financing for Development (World Bank 2008).  He holds a Ph.D. in economics from Vanderbilt University.
