Biography
In addition to his substantial administrative responsibilities at the law school, Don Welch is an active scholar and teacher in the field of ethics and public policy. He has authored three books and written on legal education and the intersection of law, ethics and policy in a variety of law journals. Dean Welch joined the Law School as Associate Dean in 1984, and holds a secondary faculty position in the Graduate Department of Religion. He teaches interdisciplinary courses on law, ethics and public policy, and his courses draw students from the Vanderbilt's Graduate, Divinity, Business, Nursing and Medical schools as well as Vanderbilt's Public Policy Studies program. His book,
Vanderbilt Law School: Aspirations and Realities, the first book-length history of Vanderbilt Law School, was released by Vanderbilt University Press in February 2008.
