How to Upload Files to the Student Organization Web Server (Mac)
:: See separate instructions for Windows users
Vanderbilt provides registered student organizations with webspace at no charge on Vanderbilt's web server, helios. To upload webfiles to helios, ITS provides a link to the free Fugu application. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to use Fugu.
1. Download Fugu (free download).
2. After the download is complete, doubleclick on the icon for Fugu-1.1.1-English.dmg
3. After you accept the licensing agreement, Fugu will mount on your computer. Doubleclick on the Fugu icon to start the program.

4. You'll see a dialog box like the one below. You'll need to enter the name of the server next to the Connect to field. The name of the server is studentorgs.vanderbilt.edu. For the Username field you'll need to enter your VUnetID. For the Port, enter 22. For the Directory field enter /studentorgs.vanderbilt.edu/html/yourStudentOrgsFolder

5. The first time you connect to the server, you'll see a dialog box asking if you want to accept the host key (see screenshot below). Click Continue to connect to the server.

6. In a few seconds, you'll get a dialog box asking for your password. Enter your e-password. After you've entered your e-password, click on the Authenticate button.

7. Next you'll see a dialog box with 2 panes. The left pane shows the folders and files that are on your computer. Navigate through the folders on the left side until you get to the folder that has your web files. You want to be able to see your web files in the left pane of the dialog box.
The right pane shows folders and files on Vanderbilt's server. If you are building a new website, you won't have any files or folders in the right pane.
8. Now you're ready to drag the files and folders from the left pane (your computer) to the right pane (the server). To do this, highlight the files you want to move in the left pane. Then drag them into the right pane.

9. Once you've dragged the files into the right pane of the dialog box, your web files will be on the server.
10. Once you've uploaded all your files, select File > Disconnect (see illustration below).
11. You'll see this type of dialog box next.
12. Then select Fugu > Quit Fugu from the menu options.

12. Congratulations! You've successfully uploaded your files to Vanderbilt's server. If you have problems using Fugu, please email deanofstudentsit at vanderbilt.edu.
