Custom Form Tutorial, Page Two
6. Edit Email Settings
With SiteMason, you can have the data people enter into the form emailed to you. This is not a requirement, though. The data that people enter is also available on SiteMason’s database, and you can view or export the data at any time (more about that later in the tutorial, or skip to that section now).
To have the data emailed to you, you’ll need to set up the email settings. Click on the Edit Email Settings tab. Then click on the Add button (see screenshot below).
Next you’ll see a screen like the one below. There is a pulldown list next to the Available fields text. This pulldown list contains the field names from your form. For example, “first” refers to the text box for “First Name.” By using the available fields pulldown list, you can dynamically pull in the data that your audience enters into the form.
The Sender’s Name refers to the name of the person who has filled out the form. To have this dynamically generated in the email, position your cursor in the text box next to the Sender’s Name text. Then go to theAvailable fields pulldown list, and select first (see screenshot below).
Once that’s done, click again with your mouse next to the <first> text. Add one space, and then go to the pulldown list for Available fields and select last to dynamically generate the last name that the person enters on the form (see screenshot below).
The Sender’s Email Address refers to the email address of the person who has filled out the form. To have this dynamically generated, position your cursor in the text box next to the Sender’s Email Address. Then go to theAvailable fields pulldown list, and select email.
The Recipient’s Email Address will contain your email address (or the email address of the person who wants to get the information. This will not be dynamically generated, so simply key in the address. For the Email Subject, enter in some text that will clue you in that this is a SiteMason form submission. For the Content of the Message, you can leave this blank, or put in some text like the example below.
Click the Add button once you’ve completed the email settings. In a few seconds, you’ll see your settings (see screenshot below). If you see anything that needs to be changed, click on the Edit button.
Go to screen three of the SiteMason Custom Form tutorial. We’ll next learn about the Customize Behavior tab.
