Letter from the Dean of StudentsThe starting date for Part 1 is July 25, and the completion date for Part 1 is August 15. The completion date for Part 2 is October 15. July 9, 2007 Dear Student, This year, as part of our comprehensive alcohol prevention program, Vanderbilt University is requiring each member of the first-year class to complete AlcoholEdu for College - an online, non-opinionated alcohol prevention program. Used on over 500 campuses nationwide, the course uses scientific research to educate students about alcohol and its effects. Whether you drink or not, AlcoholEdu for College will empower you to make well-informed decisions about alcohol and help you better deal with the drinking behavior of your peers. The course has two sections, both of which must be completed to fulfill this requirement: ![]()
Please note, for those students over age 18, the course includes three surveys that measure students' alcohol-related attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are strictly confidential; the school will only receive information about the student body as a whole and will never see individual students' answers. To take AlcoholEdu for College, you will need a computer with Internet access and audio capabilities. Your Internet connection needs broadband or at least 56K access, along with Flash Player 7 or later. We advise you to have all other programs or applications turned off, including music and video clips and Instant Messaging. If you do not have these system requirements at home, please checkout your local library, Kinko's or cyber cafe for Internet access. See the Troubleshooting screen for more information. To begin AlcoholEdu for College (access available July 25 or later):
If you have any difficulties or problems with your VUnet ID or e-password, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 615-343-9999. For any other issues related to the program, the AlcoholEdu Online Technical Support Center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
