Do I have to be a Vanderbilt Student to take Classes?
No, you do not have to be a Vanderbilt student to take VDP Dance Classes. VDP is open to students, staff, and Community members.

Do I have to register for the whole semester of classes?
No, You can drop into classes for $12 per class if you want to. Registering for class makes sure that you have a reserved space in that class if it fills up.

What level of dance classes do you have at Vanderbilt?
We offer Beginning through Advanced levels of classes in most styles and techniques check the schedule for specific classes per semester.

How old are most of the Students dancing in the program?
All of our dancers must be at least 14 years old to dance in our program. We have students ranging from 14 through retirement age in our classes.

Who are the dancers in the program?
VDP have a wide range of dancers in our program from people who always wanted to take dance but never had the chance to working professional dancers. Our students are in class because they want to be there and want to learn and improve as dancers as well as have fun in dance class without the pressure of grades.

Do you have a Drop in policy for your classes?
Yes, all classes are available for drop in as long as there is room in the class. Those that are registered for class have first priority and as space is available then Drop ins are welcome on a first come basis. Drop in classes are $12 per class. Please see the attendants in the lobby of the studios for class availability.

If I don’t like the class I registered for or it doesn’t match the level I am looking for can I switch to another class?
Yes, Please see the attendants and fill out a transfer class form, If the cost is the same then that is all you need to do. If the cost is different then you are responsible for the cost difference. We do not give refunds if the cost is less.

What is the Refund policy?
VDP does not give refunds unless it involves a major life event (injury, death, ect.). You can inquire about a refund by sending an email to kelvin.r.amburgey@vanderbilt.edu Please include all information in the email (class, receipt number, why the refund is needed).

What is Vanderbilt Dance Theatre and who can be involved in it?

VDT is the performing company associated with VDP. All members of Vanderbilt Dance Program can audition for VDT, students, Staff, and Community. VDT presents a concert every year of high quality artistic works, showcasing our best dancers and choreographers. As a member of VDP you are invited to summit a piece for adjudication by the VDT staff, out of that several works may be chosen to be included in the VDT show.

The Vanderbilt Dance Program promotes education, artistic development, cultural enrichment, and intellectual growth in the field of dance for the Vanderbilt University and Nashville communities. Through professional instruction the program also develops and fosters opportunities in the performing arts for creative exchange, social enhancement and physical well-being.
