ES 101.02 Constructing a Virtual Eco Village

Doug Fisher, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Computer Engineering

Students and faculty will design and construct a virtual village that will serve as a dynamic representation of scholarly and artistic works (e.g., academic papers, designs, music, photos, poems, prototypes, stories, and visual art) by Vanderbilt community members on environmental and societal sustainability. The virtual village will be an artistically rendered exploratorium, where virtual streets, buildings, houses, rooms and walls correspond to varying sustainability themes (e.g., climate, water, biodiversity, farming, toxins). As contributions are made, the virtual space will evolve, and this continually changing space can be explored and expanded by visitors to a large public display and/or the Web.
