What We Do

CTTC supports Vanderbilt researchers in commercializing intellectual property by providing a variety of services, including:

  • Evaluating commercial opportunities and market potential for new intellectual property
  • Filing and prosecuting patent applications and maintaining issued patents
  • Registering copyrights
  • Marketing intellectual property
  • Negotiating license agreements and options
  • Executing crucial agreements, including material transfer, confidentiality, interinstitutional, and research collaboration
  • Reviewing intellectual property language in sponsored research and clinical trial agreements
  • Monitoring licensee compliance
  • Tracking milestones and collecting royalties
  • Distributing payments to inventors and authors, labs, departments, centers, institutes, and schools
