REDCap selected for Life Science TN Venture Pitch

REDCap, a prospective Vanderbilt startup based on a comprehensive electronic data capture (EDC) solution, is one of just five new ventures selected to compete in this year's Life Science TN Venture Pitch Forum. Rigved Joshi, CTTC new ventures manager, and Hassan Naqvi, CTTC biotech licensing officer, will make the pitch Thursday, Oct. 10, to a crowd of business professionals, entrepreneurs, researchers, and investors.

REDCap, developed by Vanderbilt Office of Research Informatics Director Paul Harris, is a web-based application for building and managing online surveys and databases. It currently has more than 107,000 users in more than 700 institutions that spread across 60 different countries.

The annual business competition aims to support emerging companies in Tennessee's life sciences industry and to connect researchers, entrepreneurs and investors. As one of the five finalists, REDCap will benefit from a business mentor who will help the team refine their pitch. The day's top presenters will receive a half day of valuation-related consulting service from Kraft Analytics, a startup intellectual property consulting package from Waddey & Patterson, and office space for one year at Memphis Bioworks. They will also have the opportunity to impress the potential investors who will be in the audience.

The Forum is part of Life Science TN's annual conference, which will be held Oct. 9-11 in conjunction with the 2013 Academic Drug Discovery Consortium Conference, both of which will take place at Nashville's new Music City Center.
