Professor Rodney Stark has published an essay in the December 2, 2005 issue of The Chronicle of Higher Education, "How Christianity (and Capitalism) Led to Science," that lays out one of his basic theses. Stark argues that Christian faith in reason and reasoning about faith made capitalism (and science) possible. He challenges long-held beliefs about the "Dark Ages" and the rise of science and capitalism as rejections of faith.
