Dr.
Bonting, an emeritus professor of biochemistry and an Anglican priest-theologian,
is a frequent lecturer in Europe and the Americas at conferences and
for professional and general audiences on the convergence of religion
and science. In the course of his work, Bonting has developed a revised
creation theology, “Chaos Theology”, which has useful applications
to theology (God’s action in the world; Christ’s reconciling
work; health; eschatology) and for the reconciliation of science and
theology.
Bonting was professor and chair of the Department of Biochemistry at
the University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. His main research topics
were biochemistry of vision and active sodium transport. He was ordained
a priest in the Episcopal Church, and has served as a scientific consultant
for NASA at the Ames Research Center, Mountain View, CA, for preparation
of biological research on the International Space Station.
