Mission of the Center
The mission of the Center for Research on Rural Families and Communities is to serve as a change agent in doing work to promote the well-being of families and youth residing in rural communities.
Research Goals
We aim to fulfill this mission by:
► Collaborating with community stakeholders to develop and conduct research of benefit to the rural families and youth residing in
rural communities
► Designing and implementing preventive interventions to promote positive development, adjustment, and adaptation of youth,
parents, and communities
► Implementing preventive intervention efficacy trials and disseminating effective interventions in rural community settings
► Conducting empirical studies to advance knowledge about the significance of contextual processes, e.g., social, economic,
environmental, and rural culture to rural health disparities
► Informing effective policy intervention
