Project Summary

The overall goal of this project is to explore how and why African American men experience stress and what can be done to more effectively deal with stress. We will conduct a series of focus groups in two Southeastern cities - Nashville, TN and Jackson, MS - to examine these factors among middle-aged African American men. Stress and how men deal with stress are important to consider because they influence men's overall lifestyles and many behaviors that influence their health.  We are no longer recruiting participants for this study.
