Software Integrated Systems
Vanderbilt’s Institute for Software Integrated Systems (ISIS) is an internationally recognized science and technology center and a major source of both design methods and open source tools for the design and creation of physical and computational systems from small, embedded devices like pacemakers to globally deployed complex systems such as networks of satellites. The building of model-integrated computing is at its epicenter. Efforts are underway in cybersecurity, cyberphysical interaction, the generation of health information systems that are privacy aware and secure, patient management systems for sepsis treatment, and DARPA’s Adaptive Vehicle Make research program, a flag-ship initiative to build a complex defense vehicle in one-fifth of the usual time.
