Software Integrated Systems
Vanderbilt’s Institute for Software Integrated Systems (ISIS) is an internationally recognized science and technology center and a major source of both design methods and open source tools for the design and creation of physical and computational systems from small, embedded devices like pacemakers to globally deployed complex systems such as networks of satellites.
The building of model-integrated computing is at the epicenter of ISIS. Efforts are underway in:
- Cyberphysical interaction; the “Internet of Things”
- Generation of health information systems that are privacy aware and secure
- Patient management systems for sepsis treatment
- The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s (DARPA) Adaptive Vehicle Make research program, a flagship initiative to build a complex defense vehicle in one-fifth of the usual time
