COPC Walking Club is a program to increase the physical activity of people in the North Nashville area by providing them the opportunity to get motivated by what they already do everyday – “Move.” Increasing movement is a fundamental process to achieve better health. This is how it works:
Each church or organization has a group of participants with pedometers, devices that count footsteps. Each week the group turns in their numbers to a designated liaison in their organization. The liaison adds the steps and posts them. Each group competes against one another to see who takes the most steps. At the end of the month the church that takes the most steps wins a free health fair at their church sponsored by Vanderbilt and COPC.
The goals of the COPC Walking Club are:
