Tennis Squads to Host NCAA Regionals 4/30/03
Tournament 1st & 2nd Rounds to be Held May 9-11

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Vanderbilt men’s and women’s
tennis teams received good news on Wednesday from the NCAA,
as both teams will host a regional, May 9-11, at the Brownlee
O. Currey Tennis Center. The men’s team is the tournament’s
seventh overall seed, while the women’s squad comes
in as the 10th seed overall.
Women’s competition will kick the weekend off, as
38th-ranked Missouri (14-6) will take on 21st-ranked Notre
Dame (15-8). The 15th-ranked Commodores (18-5) will then follow
against American East Conference champion Boston University.
The Terriers (10-11), who have won nine-straight conference
titles, will be making their fifth consecutive appearance
to the NCAA Tournament.
The men will get things going on Saturday morning, as 26th-ranked
Pepperdine (16-10) will collide with 39th-ranked Mississippi
State (8-12). The sixth-ranked Commodores (22-3) will immediately
follow the first match, as they will take on Ohio Valley Conference
champion and in-state foe Tennessee Tech (15-9). The Golden
Eagles earned the automatic bid when they defeated Murray
State in the finals of the OVC Tournament.
With Vanderbilt’s women’s and men’s teams
both hosting, times have not yet been determined. Check back
