Riske
and Tsoubanos Advance in NCAA Doubles Championship

GAINESVILLE,
Fla. - Senior Sarah Riske (McMurray, Pa.) and junior
Aleke Tsoubanos (Chesterfield, Mo.) advanced to the
second round of the NCAA Doubles Championship after
defeating Middle Tennessee State's tandem of Stacy Varnell
and Manon Kruse, 6-4, 6-1, on Tuesday at the Ring Tennis
Complex.
The
third-seeded team of Riske and Tsoubanos will now take
on Southern California's top doubles duo of Jewel Peterson
and Tiffany Brymer at 12 p.m. (EST) Wednesday in the
NCAA Round of 16. Peterson and Brymer defeated Northwestern's
Jessica Rush and Cristelle Grier, 6-4, 7-6, in their
opening match.
Riske
and Tsoubanos improve to 32-7 on the year following
their win over Varnell and Kruse. Peterson and Brymer,
who are ranked 18th nationally, are 25-15 on the year.
Riske
had her collegiate singles career come to an end on
Tuesday, as she lost to Kentucky's Sarah Witten in straight
sets, 6-3, 6-3. Riske, a three-time All-American, concludes
her singles career with an outstanding 102-41 mark (.713
winning percentage).
