Laurie Black Named
Third-Team All-Central Region

MISSION, Kan. - Vanderbilt senior defender Laurie Black was named Third-Team All-Central Region in a vote by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's All-America Committee, it was announced today. She also was named First-Team All-SEC for her efforts this season.

Black was the leader of a Vanderbilt defense that finished the 2000 season second in the SEC in points allowed (70) and goals allowed (25). That same defense also posted seven shutouts in its 12 victories.

The native of Bethel, Conn., also has shown the ability to add to the Commodores' offensive attack. She is a team leader with her 29 shots and has tallied one goal and one assist this season.

Black, a Human and Organizational Development major, wrapped up the regular season by being named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the third straight season.
