Molly Wilson
Sophomore - Midfielder 5-4
Springfield, Va.
West Springfield
|
A strong technical player, Wilson made an immediate impact
as a freshman a year ago. She became a fixture on the left
side of the midfield and became and offensive weapon from
the flank. An excellent possesion player, Wilson can beat
defenses with the dribble and the pass, as she led the team
in assists last year. Her play on the left side will once
again be a key to the Commodores success again this year.
As A Freshman (2001): Played in all 17 games and
starting 16 contests...Led the team with four assists and
seventh on the team with 6 points...Scored her first career
goal against Tennessee...Fourth on the team with 14 shots...Had
a career high three shots in the SEC Tournament game vs. Florida...Five
of six points were recorded against SEC opponents.
High School/Club: A four-year starter while helping
high school win four consecutive district titles…High school
won state championship her sophomore year and were state finalists
her junior year…Sophomore team finished the season ranked
No. 1 in the nation…A four-year All-District honoree, also
earned All-Region and All-State honors her junior and senior
seasons…Twice named to the Washington Post All-Metropolitan
team…One of five West Springfield players now playing Division
I soccer…Co-Captain of Chantilly Spurs club team that won
six consecutive state championships…2000 club team won Region
I championship and finished third in the nation.
Odds and Ends: Margaret Maguire Wilson…Born 8/13/82…Daughter
of George and Marcia Wilson…Major is undecided…Brother Jeb
graduated from Vanderbilt in 1998 and sister Elizabeth was
an All-American gymnast at LSU…Chose Vanderbilt over Duke,
Virginia, Boston College, Boston University, DePaul, Georgetown,
Miami, and Rutgers because it had the best combinations of
academics, atmosphere, coaches, and team along with her brother
being a Vanderbilt grad…Once worked at a summer camp in the
Blue Ridge mountains for four weeks.
