Lizzy Johnson

A hard-worker and team player, Johnson changed roles last
season and produced greatly for the Commodores. After moving
from defense to forward, she scored in each of her first three
starts up front to spark the Vanderbilt offense. Now as a
forward, Johnson will be looked upon to be an offensive threat
again this year, especially on set pieces.
As A Junior (2001): Moved from defender to forward
and midfield...Tied for third on the team with three goals...tied
for fourth on the team with seven points...Scored a goal in
her first three career starts (Texas, SMU, at Memphis)...Had
a career-high three points (1G, 1A) vs. SMU...Had 11 shots...Played
in 16 games, started ten.
As A Sophomore (2000): Earned Academic All-SEC Honors...Contributed
as a back-up defender, making eight apperances overall and
three in SEC games.
As A Freshman (1999): Played primarily as a back-up
defender, making six apperances on the year, four in SEC games…Also
was one of VU's back-up goalkeepers where she made two starts
in five games, totaling 187 minutes in the net…Made four saves
against No. 3 Florida in just 23 minutes in goal…Had a season-high
six saves against Iowa State.
High School/Club: Tallied 10 goals and 12 assists
as a senior to be named the team MVP and help her team to
the California Central Coast Section Semifinals…Named the
1999 and 1997 Midfielder of the Year in the Santa Cruz Coast
Athletic League; also a three-time first-team all-league performer…Earned
Second-Team California Central Coast Section honors in 1997
as a defender…Earned several team honors throughout her career
including 1998 Team Scholar Athlete, 1997 Team Player of the
Year and 1996 Team's Best Defender…Helped her team to four
league championships…Played club soccer for the Central Valley
Pumas who were the Northern California U-19 Premier League
Champions in 1998 and Finalists in 1997…Also a four-year letterwinner
in track who was the league high jump champion in 1996 and
1997 and the 1998 California Central Coast Section Semifinalist…Named
the 1999 Harbor High School Female Scholar Athlete of the
Year.
Worth Knowing: Elizabeth Krefting Johnson…Born 9/26/81…Daughter
of Ed and Marty Johnson…Major is Mechanical Engineering…Graduated
in the Top 10 percent of her high school class and earned
two scholar athlete awards in soccer.
