Fear looks to build off a solid freshman season in which
she quickly became an integral part of the Vanderbilt defense.
A fixture on the left side of the defense, she played every
minute of her freshman season. An excellent one-on-one defender,
she can also add the Commodore offense by starting and joining
the attack down the left flank. She will be expected to play
an important role in the Vanderbilt defense again this season.
As A Freshman (2001): Started every game at left defender...One
of four players to start all 17 games...One of three players
to play all 1,559 minutes of the season...Had two shots...Helped
Vanderbilt defense post three shutouts and hold opponents
to one goal or less in eight contests.
High School/Club: A strong defender that was three-times
first team all-league after earning second team honors as
a freshman…Named All-City (Cincinnati) and All-Southwest Ohio
after sophomore, junior, and senior seasons…2000 third team
all-state selection as senior…Captain of high school team…Honor
Roll student throughout high school.
Odds and Ends: Jessica Marie Fear…Born 11/5/82…Daughter
of Barry and Mary Fear…Has two older brothers…Intended major
is Psychology…Chose Vanderbilt over Michigan, Virginia, Dartmouth,
and Arizona because she loved her visit to Vanderbilt…Lists
her most memorable athletic experience as kicking the winning
penalty kick for her team to win a tournament as a youth.
