Memorial
Gym: 50 years of Vandy magic The City Paper
This is the 50th year of Vanderbilt basketball in Memorial
Gymnasium, and the Commodore athletic department is marking
the occasion with a dedication ceremony Saturday before the
men’s game with Tennessee. The court will be christened Ingram
Court after the Ingram family, which has been a long-time
supporter of Vanderbilt athletics. In a two-part story, The
City Paper correspondent Bill Traughber relates some of the
magic that Memorial has housed in its half-century.
Do unusual floor, benches make Memorial Gym an 'injustice'
or a Supreme Court? The Tennessean
Writers have called it the Fenway Park of collegiate basketball,
and players routinely call it a shooter's gym.
