• This is the 22nd meeting between these two teams with Vanderbilt holding a 11-10 lead in the series. VU is 6-2 in games played in Memorial Gym. The Commodores defeated LSU 64-53 in Baton Rouge on Jan. 27. The Commodores have won four consecutive games in the series.
• Between tonight’s two coaches, Sue Gunter and Jim Foster own a combined record of 1,141-515 for a 68.9 win percentage.
• Head coach Jim Foster is three wins shy of 250 at Vanderbilt and five shy of 500 career wins.
• LSU Head coach Sue Gunter played for the Nashville AAU Business College Basketball Team and is a 1962 graduate of Peabody.
• The Commodores have been ranked in the AP and USA Today/ESPN Polls throughout the season and ranging from #3 to #8. Currently, VU is #6 in both polls.
• VU is 6-4 vs. ranked teams this season and 15-1 vs. unranked teams (Arkansas is the lone loss).
• The Commodores are 7-2 in television games this season. This is the first of three appearances on FOX Sports South. Saturday’s game at UT is on FOX along with the season finale with Auburn.
• The Commodores have three starters in the VU 1,000-point club. Chantelle Anderson is fourth on the list with 1,786 points, followed by Zuzi Klimesova in fifth with 1,724 points and Jillian Danker in 18th place with 1,037 points
• The Commodores lead the nation in field goal percentage - men or women - with a 53.4 percentage (715-1339). On the men’s side, Kansas leads the nation with a 51.8 percentage (826-1594). Junior center Chantelle Anderson is second on the nation with a 65.8 percentage, while Zuzi Klimesova is 16th with a 58.4 mark. Iowa State senior center Angie Welle leads the nation with a 68.6 mark. Last season, VU led the nation in field goal percentage - men or women - with a 54.5 mark with Anderson leading the nation with a 72.3 percentage.
• Junior point guard Ashley McElhiney is in sixth place on the VU Career Assists List with 419.
• In the lastest WBCA/Summerville RPI, Vanderbilt is ranked sixth with the fourth toughest schedule in the nation. Only Tennessee among the Top 10 teams has a tougher schedule (first)
