1989 H First Season at Vanderbilt

Stephanie Norman joins the Vanderbilt staff after serving two
seasons as an assistant at Oregon State.
Norman's coaching career began in 1990 as an assistant at the
University of British Columbia where her team was ranked sixth in the nation
and advanced to the regional playoffs. She then served as a graduate assistant
at the University of Hawaii for two seasons highlighted by a runnerup finish
in the Women's National Invitational Tournament in 1992.
Norman joined the University of Oregon staff in 1992 as an assistant
coach. During her time at Oregon, the Ducks owned a 122-69 record, including
six consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. She left the college ranks for
a year to become the assistant athletics director and science teacher at Marist
High School in Eugene, Oregon. In May 2000, she joined the Oregon State women's
basketball staff as an assistant and helped guide the Beavers to a 16-13 overall
mark and their first post-season appearance since 1996 with a trip to the WNIT.
Norman, the former Stephanie Osburn, was an all-state selection
at Siuslaw High School where she was the first female Division I scholarship
recipient to graduate from Siuslaw.
She was a four-year letterwinner at Arizona State University
where she served as the Sun Devils' captain during her junior and senior seasons.
She earned a bachelor of science degree in wildlife biology from Arizona State
in 1989 and earned a master's degree in education from the University of Hawaii
in 1992.
Stephanie and her husband Geoff are the parents of a son, Parker
Briggs Norman, born July 10, 2001.
