Vanderbilt Junior Earns Honorable Mention Honors
Vanderbilt
junior Courtney Wood was named to the 2003 NGCA (National
Golf Coaches Association) All-American Honorable Mention Team

Wood led the team with a 74.65 stroke average and is currently

four players in the Southeastern Conference to win two tournaments
this season. She has finished in the Top 10 in six tournaments,
including first-place finishes in the Mason Rudolph Championship
and the Bryan National Collegiate Championship. She is the

named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. She owns the team’s
best round of the season with a 68 in the second round of
the Mason Rudolph Championship and the best three-round total

fifth, the highest finish ever by a Commodore in that event.
She helped lead the Commodores to their fourth consecutive
trip to the NCAA East Regional where they finished tied for
second, the highest in school history, and advanced to the
NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. She finshed
tied for 47th at the NCAA Tournament with a four-round total
of 308.
“Courtney had a great year,” Vanderbilt head
coach Martha Freitag said. “She stepped up and did a
lot of great things for us. She leads by example and I can’t
speak highly enough about her. She does so many things well
and she is very disciplined in the classroom and on the course.
I love coaching her and I am excited that I have another year
with her.”
The Commodores concluded their successful season Friday
at the NCAA Championships where they finished tied for 14th
with a four-round total of 1242 - the highest finish in school
history. |
