Vanderbilt Golf Ranked #3 in the Country

The
Vanderbilt womens golf team is ranked No. 3 in the
latest Golfweek.com Top 25 poll compiled prior to the Commodores
winning the Mason Rudolph Championship (Sept. 24). In the
GolfWorld Poll released Sept. 6, the Commodores are ranked
No. 9.
The Commodores are coming off their most prestigious
tournament win by coming from four strokes down to win by
nine at the Mason Rudolph Championship held at Legends Club
of Tennessee. Vanderbilt recorded scores of 302-285-291
for an 878 total (+14) to win the championship. Arizona
led the field enterting the final round, but shot a 304
in the final round to total 887 in the three rounds (296-287-304,
+23).
Three Commodores finished in the Top Five
led by junior Courtney Wood who won the individual title
with a two-under-par 214 (77-68-69). Freshman May Wood finished
in fourth place (76-72-73=221, +5), while junior Sarah Jacobs
finished in a tie for fifth place with a 222 (73-75-74,
+6). Senior Nicki Cutler finished in a tie for 13th place
(79-70-77=226, +10), followed by Joni Gossett in a tie for
22nd (76-78-75=229, +13). Sophomore Veronica Yatco competed
as an individual and finished with a three-round total of
240 (84-76-80) for a tie in 57th place. Junior Kim Kindig
was forced to withdraw in the first round due to illness.
