Mark Sutton
Strength and Conditioning Coach |
Mark Sutton rejoined the Vanderbilt staff in June, 2001,
and is responsible for the strength and conditioning program
for the womens golf team. Sutton served as an intern
in the athletics department in the Spring of 1999 before taking
a position at the Delta Fitness Club in Nashville.
The game of golf has drastically changed, Sutton
says. Todays elite female golfers are strong, powerful
athletes. The single most important piece of equipment the
Vanderbilt golfer posesses is their body. For this reason,
the Commodore golf team undergoes a thorough strength and
conditioning program designed to fully prepare them for success
at the collegiate level and hopefully also in the future at
the professional level.
Sutton earned his Master of Science degree in Exercise Science
in May, graduating with honors from Middle Tennessee State
University.
He is certified by the Collegiate Strength Coaches Assosciaion
and the National Strength and Conditioning Association and
is also a member of both organizations.
