Frank Gladu
Pole Vault
Frank Gladu returns for his fifth season working with the Commodore pole vaulters.
A four-year letterman at Drexel University, Gladu garnered numerous accolades.
He broke several school records and won the East Coast Conference outdoor title
with a vault of 15'3". He was the team captain as a senior, and earned
the Most Valuable Field Event Award in 1977.
Following his collegiate career, Gladu coached and recruited pole vaulters for
his alma mater until 1985. After assisting at Drexel, Gladu coached at Malvern
(Pa.) Prep High School from 1985-87. Gladu also was an instructor at Bill Falk's
pole vault school, held at University of Rhode Island, from 1978-85.
Under Gladu's guidance, Paige Roberts and Lauren Tinsley rewrote the Vanderbilt
indoor and outdoor record books in 2002.
In addition, Gladu has served as the Director of Dining Services at Vanderbilt
since 1987.
