Reynolds Named ITA National Player of the Month 2/10/03
SKILLMAN,
N.J. - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced that
Vanderbilt junior Bobby Reynolds (Acworth, Ga./Harrison) was
named the National Collegiate Player of the Month for January.
He becomes the first player in Vanderbilt mens tennis
history to earn this honor.
Reynolds is coming of an incredible month of January, which
was highlighted by winning the Southeastern Conference Indoor
Championship at the Racquet Club of the South in Norcross,
Ga. Over the four-day event, which showcased the conferences
best talent, Reynolds won six singles matches en route to
his biggest collegiate achievement.
Over the four days, the eighth-ranked Reynolds defeated four
nationally-played players, including No. 29-ranked Janne Holmia
of Florida in the championship, 7-6, 6-1. He has defeated
10 nationally-ranked players this season, while posting a
solid 22-5 singles mark. He will also carry a 12-match winning
streak into this weekend of action.
Reynolds, along with the rest of his teammates, will look
to rebound after a difficult, 4-3, loss to Southeastern Conference
rival Arkansas on Sunday, when they take on No. 75-ranked
Furman on Saturday, February 15, at the Brownlee O. Currey
Tennis Center. Check back to VUCommodores.com for an exact
